Beth

Beth's path to becoming a clinical counsellor began with her yoga practice as well as her role as a yoga and meditation instructor. Beth noticed that as she moved her body and spent time in reflection - awareness arose, and memories, feelings and thoughts made themselves known. This was true for others as they combined movement with mindfulness and they would share with Beth what they experienced following yoga or mindfulness classes. To be better prepared for these interactions and to be able to support clients through hardship, Beth sought more training and became first a yoga therapist and then a registered clinical counsellor, eventually competing her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.

Beth offers client-centered support through an intersectional humanistic lens. Beth’s belief that every human being is the expert on themselves informs her approach in listening to clients as they explore their patterns and habits. Mindfulness (and attuning to the wisdom of the body) is part of counselling sessions with Beth, as she will encourage folks to pay close attention to messages from all aspects of themselves, often through experiential tools.

Beth works with individuals and those in relationship. Beth believes that relationships provide a unique opportunity for growth, as it is in relationship we bump into challenges that trigger old wounds and childhood events that may require our attention. Beth offers Imago Relationship Therapy to people in partnerships where there is need for repair or improved communication. Clients often reach out to Beth expressing a desire to feel more connected or vulnerable with each other. Beth’s relational work is not limited to romantic partners: siblings, business partners, friends, and other types of relationships are all part of Beth’s clientele.

Through the exploration of themes and patterns, as well as relationships with those around them, clients are invited to stay present to their experience as they work with tools while learning to navigate their anxious thinking or fluctuating moods.

Beth maintains a private practice, where - along with counselling services for individuals, couples, and groups - she also offers supervision and consultation services for counsellors.  Beth is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (#13877).

Beth is sensitive to issues of identity, diversity, and race, she continues to engage in meaningful training and dialogue about culture, trauma, and other areas where ongoing learning is a must.
